30 Years Of Community Service
In 1985 Inner City Contracting Company was started with the express purpose of hiring inner city men and women, of whom most employers felt were unemployable, to work to rehab homes in their own neighborhoods. Therefore, we started a business as a drug, alcohol and prison ministry.
In working with Bishop Willie J. Mulberry of Emmanuel Christian Center, 8201 Superior Avenue, Cleveland Ohio and Isaac Haggins Realty Company, formally located on St. Clair Avenue, Cleveland Ohio and a few other investors, we were able to hire, train, evangelize and mentor over 300 people and rehab more than 400 homes.
Since most of our employees were of questionable backgrounds, we only used them in empty, condemned and foreclosed properties, until they proved to be morally, spiritually and financially rehabilitated.
Some of the people that we have hired over the past 30 years have gone on to work for larger construction companies, started their own businesses and even went into ministry.
Benefit to the County
Most of the people that we have hired in the past have been able to come off of public assistance. Therefore, saving the government millions of dollars, as well as, keeping them from criminal activity and going back to jail.
Benefit to the City
They have helped board up condemned houses, rehabbed and transformed them to beautiful homes with value enhancing the street and community.
Benefit to the Community
Working men and women are less likely to return to crime, such as robbery, burglary, drug dealing and assault. Thus the recidivism rate goes down.
Benefit to the Workers
We believe that a decent job, coupled with faith in God, can do and will build self-esteem, character and fulfillment. I have been a Contractor/Minister for the past thirty years, working with Rev. McMickel of Antioch Baptist Church’s “Open Door Prison Fellowship” and have seen many conversions.
